If I were your photographer I would love to discuss what would be the best for your family portrait location during our pre portrait session. If you like outdoor, I would instinctively head outdoors in search of a great location for most shoots. I would find a spot for photos with natural light. After all, the greater light source is the sun which has abundant rays and it is free. I will love to use that free light but would manipulate that with my additional lights and other photo gears. There are plenty of opportunity to be creative by engaging with the world at large. Something exciting takes place when shooting on location in any public space where the elements and passers-by create a dynamic atmosphere.
I regularly shoot in my studio when the situation calls for it. I can control the light which is the vital part in my portrait photography. I can dial in exactly what I want whether it’s fluorescent or tungsten lights, side or backlighting, or the all-important brightness and diffusion and tone. I have a freedom that comes from setting up and shooting away knowing that a scene is perfectly lit and won’t change until I want it to.
There are no crazy winds that can cover your face or eyes. There are lots of privacy for you to be yourself. The results are great.
Why do I love hanging family portraits at home and make albums with our family portraits and events?
Printing photographs are not very common thing now a days. Sometimes, we can't predict how a print can impact our life. When I open my family album, It reminds me the meaning of what we do as a photographer. A good quality print can last hundreds of years. Often, generation will find it again and cherish it.
Sometimes, the photos are more cherished by the people who are not in the photos like our children or grand children. I have seen my great grandfather (mother side), grandfather, grandmother, my teenage mother and father in black and white portraits. It is them frozen in a moment in time. Photography gives us those section of time that let our imagination roaming back in the past and see them as a complete different version of them that I never get to meet.
I have my mother as a child and as a young adult black and white photo where she had long, thick, silky hair. My kids always wish for having great hair like their grandma. They cherish my father's graduation portrait. They comment about my fashion sense when I was my father's little girl. My older daughter always say that she got her geek talent from her father when look at his father family album. I am sure that my children, their children and their children will go through their old family album, printed portraits and cherish them for the rest of their life.
We have our girls canvas portrait framed around our house. Everytime I look at those portraits I go back in time and remember how they used to spend time together at home. They will never become outdated and they will continue to provide lasting memories. They are our everyday reminder of our family connection.
This is why, I am inspired and encouraged making family album and portraits canvas every year for us to keep. I know that they will be passed from generations to generations. ---Sonia Ahmad

It was heartbreaking to see my favorite city ravaged by tropical storm Harvey. I can't describe the pain of all the people who've lost their loved ones and homes. We have been fortunate to stay safe and dry for the most part. We (my husband and my girls) had an opportunity to help flood victims in the Berry Center. There, we heard multiple stories from flood victims about their evacuation struggles. Throughout the week, we've volunteered at a couple of flood shelters and made contributions for the first responders and Red Cross. As long as the community needs help, we'll be there.
Houston will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. All I can say is that staying positive and helping each other will make things better sooner than you can imagine.
Enjoy the Moment Portraits will reopen from September 5th, 2017.
Love and hugs,
There were so many talented kids around us, but we had to pick only 12. Why? There are only twelve months in the calendar! It was fun working with the kids from the beginning to the end. During each and every session, we (my friend and I) spent about 20/30 minutes in the studio. I spent more time to edit the images. The calendar designing process was another fun aspect of this project. The calendar has lots of silly holidays that I have never heard about before. For example, there's a silly day in August called "Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor's Porch"! Not only that, this calendar has holiday info, local high school info, and inspirational messages. It's the perfect size to fit in lockers, bags, etc. It could be a great gift for your friends, family, teachers, and colleagues!
The calendar is only $8, and it will benefit nonprofit organizations including your kid's high school club. Call us to find out how the community benefits out of it. Thank you!

The word prom is short for promenade, the formal, introductory parading of guests at a party. The prom can be traced back to the simple co-ed banquets that 19th century American universities held for each year's graduating class. A growing teenage culture pushed proms younger and younger, and by the 1940s the adolescent dance we know today had almost entirely taken hold. Source- Time Megazine
However, it is 2017 and it is time for the prom: It was a special night where every girl in colorful gowns and boys in tuxedos pose funny for photos that they will cherish or regret for the rest of their lives. I have a set of girls who didn't tag along their boyfriends for the pictures. They certainly had lots of funny poses to share in the instagram, but I took their formals to keep it in their safe memory box. It was a great night; party bus was taken for joyrides. They danced, danced, had a fancy dinner and had fancy punch to keep it punchy.
I had a great time attending Aileen Harding’s senior workshop. It was focused on high school seniors posing and lighting. As my primary interest is working with the young kids like High School Seniors, I always find ways to capture their emotions. Emotions are not about looking at the camera and put your best smiles. My job is to show my subject’s personality with emotion. It is all about their happiness, excitement and pride. My favorite style is low key where the subject is usually engaged with something or being just himself. My light is completely focused on the subject and I love to use additional lights from different directions. However, this image was shot color in Aileen Harding’s studio. While Aileen was demonstrating the lighting pattern, I recomposed and took the picture of this good looking young model. I wanted it classic black and white and added a little punch to it later during post processing. Image # 1 was straight from the camera, no editing at all. Image #2 which is B&W.

One of my best interests in photography is doing bridal portraits. Zakia came to my studio with her beautiful smile, her hair and makeup done. She also brought her wedding dress and her shoes. The session was approximately one month before her wedding! Before the bridal session Zakia and I had a Bridal portrait planning session. During the planning session we both discussed about how to be prepared for her session in advance. We made sure to coordinate with her makeup and hair artist before the portrait session. Since, she beautifully dressed up and completely prepared for the day of her portraits, my goal was to make sure that she looked at her best during her bridal session. My lighting and posing is always the key to make the session the most successful. I planned beforehand how I was going to light her face when it comes to close up and even for the full length portraits. Posing is another crucial part when I put my subject in front of my lenses. Personally, I’m very critical when I pose my subject. I don’t like to see myself in awkward posing when I do our own family portrait or self-portrait. So, I also don’t pose any bride or senior clients the way that they look very awkward and uncomfortable. The posing must go with their personality. Here are some images from our bridal session with Zakia. Here she looked absolutely gorgeous. It was very exciting when she picked one of her favorite images framed canvas by me on the table during her wedding. Unfortunately, I was not able to cover her wedding, but I had fun as a guest with my family watching the new couple starting their new begging of their next chapter.
Senior session with Desia. Desia Scott is spontaneous young lady, and I had so much fun while photographing her and her interests. She wants to pursuit college and study literature. We talked a lot while we posed. She loves reading books and writing poetry and also loves to wear fashionable attire. Her favorite kind of weekend thing is going to shopping, catching a movie with friends or sleepover. Pink and blue are her two favorite color. She chose our designer sesession where we shoot both indoor and outdoor. We did caps and gown, some formal poses, fun moments and of course my favorite is dramatic pose with additive lighting.
I'm looking forward to meet more fun loving seniors this year. Can't wait to celebrate with style! :)
I love to create your portraits with my passion for photography. I truly feel blessed to live my passion every day. My passion for photography helped me enjoy my time capturing beautiful memories of your life. Every moment has a story and it is very precious to all of us. I am also a mother of two beautiful girls. I think that taking photos of every event in a unique way creates a memory for a whole life time, and being a wife of an economist keeps helping me in innumerable ways, not to mention how to manage my finances better.
