Why do I love hanging family portraits at home and make albums with our family portraits and events?11/8/2017 Printing photographs are not very common thing now a days. Sometimes, we can't predict how a print can impact our life. When I open my family album, It reminds me the meaning of what we do as a photographer. A good quality print can last hundreds of years. Often, generation will find it again and cherish it.
Sometimes, the photos are more cherished by the people who are not in the photos like our children or grand children. I have seen my great grandfather (mother side), grandfather, grandmother, my teenage mother and father in black and white portraits. It is them frozen in a moment in time. Photography gives us those section of time that let our imagination roaming back in the past and see them as a complete different version of them that I never get to meet. I have my mother as a child and as a young adult black and white photo where she had long, thick, silky hair. My kids always wish for having great hair like their grandma. They cherish my father's graduation portrait. They comment about my fashion sense when I was my father's little girl. My older daughter always say that she got her geek talent from her father when look at his father family album. I am sure that my children, their children and their children will go through their old family album, printed portraits and cherish them for the rest of their life. We have our girls canvas portrait framed around our house. Everytime I look at those portraits I go back in time and remember how they used to spend time together at home. They will never become outdated and they will continue to provide lasting memories. They are our everyday reminder of our family connection. This is why, I am inspired and encouraged making family album and portraits canvas every year for us to keep. I know that they will be passed from generations to generations. ---Sonia Ahmad P.S.
